Overview

We’re looking for a sharp, detail-driven and experienced Senior Credit Controller to take ownership of our £4m+ ledger, lead day-to-day credit control operations, and help keep cash moving across Belazu’s diverse customer base. You’ll coach a small team, manage credit risk, and collaborate closely with Sales, Customer Services and Finance to resolve issues and deliver a best-in-class customer experience.

If you’re confident owning a ledger, managing disputes, and driving improvements in a fast-paced FMCG business-this one’s for you.

About Belazu

This is a lovely opportunity to join a business with an impressive set of accreditations, from B Corp status to silver standard Investors in People and recognised in 2025 as a Sunday Times Best Place to Work. We are a diverse team with a shared set of professional goals and social values that drive a hugely satisfying working experience. Belazu has been a pioneer of supplying high quality, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Ingredients within the UK’s Foodservice for over 30 years. We are an innovative leader in our field, with an energetic and high performing working culture. We have ambitious plans to grow over the next 5 years and take great pride in the values that form the spine of our business.

What the day job looks like:

As Senior Credit Controller, you will:

  • Own a c. £4m ledger across 300+ live accounts with clear chase cycles and next actions.
  • Oversee the full credit control cycle from order to cash, ensuring compliance with policy.
  • Lead dispute management and credit note processes in line with approval matrix.
  • Monitor credit risk, run credit checks and liaise with insurers to manage limits.
  • Allocate payments, clear unallocated cash within 48 hours, and reconcile customer accounts.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve queries quickly-Sales, CS, Warehouse, etc.
  • Control account holds/releases with clear rationale and communication.
  • Oversee EDI and portal invoice submissions and drive resolution of transmission issues.
  • Ensure data accuracy in CRM, portals, and shared folders.
  • Generate clear weekly/monthly aged debt and risk reports with actions and owners.
  • Coach and support a team of three credit controllers and assist with onboarding/training.
  • Drive continuous improvements that reduce overdues and improve cashflow.

This role will suit you if:

  • You’ve got strong years of experience in credit control with proven ownership of a commercial ledger.
  • You’re confident in stakeholder comms and experienced with FMCG or B2B environments.
  • You’re highly organised, methodical, and calm under pressure.
  • You’ve worked with ERP systems and have strong Excel skills (recons, reporting, etc).
  • You’ve coached or supported others in a credit control team.
  • You enjoy making things better-whether that’s a process, a report, or a customer experience.

This role may not be for you if:

  • You’re not confident taking ownership of a full ledger or handling credit disputes.
  • You’ve never worked in FMCG, sales ledger, or a B2B environment.
  • You prefer not to get hands-on with systems, data or reconciliations.
  • You’re unable to work from Greenford at least 3 days per week.

What’s in it for you?

Terms

  • 40 hrs/wk Mon–Fri (i.e. 8am – 4:30pm, flexible on start times)
  • Hybrid working (avg. 3 days on site, 2 WFH-based on business needs)
  • Probation period: 3 months
  • Annual salary review
  • Bonus: 10% KPI-based
